As one of the major soccer teams in the Lancashire region, AFC Blackpool plays a significant role in nurturing football talent among the youth. In this regard, they have a fully functional AFC Blackpool juniors segment manned by well-trained coaches and experts. The AFC Blackpool juniors include teams of different age groups from the Under-16 team, under-14, under-11, under-10 and the gulls (under-6 and under-7). The teams meet multiple times in a week for training and to take part in different football tournaments for their respective age groups such as the FA Youth Cup. In the local youth football round-up, AFC Blackpool had to settle for a 2 – 2 with Litherland REMYCA away from home. Earlier they lost 3 – 2 to Carlisle City after going down. Elsewhere, Layton FC increased their lead at the District Youth Football League U13 Alpha Silver Division by beating their nearest rivals Foxhall Hoops three goals to one. Recently, 18 of their players were involved in a camp called “Train Like a Pro.” The camp was meant to show the junior players how much it takes to become a football star.
